Semi driver dies in I-75 accident in Columbia County
A 47-year-old Lawrenceville, Georgia man died Tuesday morning when his tractor-trailer drifted off Interstate 75 south of Lake City and collided with several trees. According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the driver was traveling south on I-75 near mile marker 425 at 12:47 a.m. on the inside lane when he drifted southwest across the middle and outside lanes and exited onto the west shoulder. The tractor-trailer entered a ditch where it collided with several trees.

14-year-old cyclist suffers critical injuries after being hit by vehicle in Lake City
LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - A 14-year-old is fighting to survive after a vehicle versus bicycle crash on Northwest Bascom Norris Drive on Monday evening. Lake City Police Department officers say around 5:50 p.m. they found the teenager lying on the side of the roadway, unconscious and breathing. The patient was taken to a nearby trauma unit for treatment of critical injuries including an apparent head injury.

Local Man Convicted for Series of Pharmacy Robberies in Columbia County
Jesse Rance Moore, 46, from Bell, Florida, was convicted in federal court for robbing four local pharmacies. The United States Attorney, Roger Handberg, praised the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies for their role in the case. The robberies began at North Florida Pharmacy in Fort White in August 2021, and continued in Chiefland, Florida, Baya West Pharmacy in Lake City, and another at North Florida Pharmacy in January 2022.
