Coleman connects reading and art for students
TAHLEQUAH – Local artist and Cherokee Nation citizen Dena Coleman is helping schools teach children about the interconnectedness of art and reading. Coleman, who owns Dena’s Art Den, emphasizes the importance of engaging students in creative activities to complement their reading. She teaches from the children’s book “We Are Water Protectors” by Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Michaela Goade.
