UPDATE: Webb City Police arrest man after barricading in home

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Police in Webb City surround a home on Main Street after identifying a man inside who refused to come out. That man, police say, has felony warrants and a history of carrying firearms.

Tyretha Smith

Just after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (5/23), Webb City police say they saw Tyretha Smith, 29, of Webb City, enter a residence along the 600 block of North Main Street.

Officers with the Webb City Special Response Team were called in and quickly surrounded the home — calling for Smith to come out peacefully.

However, he was not the first to come out. Those who exited the home first included Indica Smith, 36, from Webb City, Christine Lamberth, 43, of Joplin, and three small children who were turned over to a relative who came to the scene.

Indica Smith was arrested on a warrant from the Carthage Police Department for failure to register a motor vehicle, while Lamberth was arrested on three felony warrants: One from Cass County for driving while revoked, a second one for probation violation for fraud out of Newton County, and the third from Jasper County for trafficking stolen identifications.

Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Special Response Team also responded to the scene and introduced chemical munitions (CS gas or 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile) into the home. Tyretha Smith exited the home around 10:30 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident.

Webb City Police say additional charges of felony resisting arrest and felony possession of a controlled substance from this incident will be filed with the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office against Tyretha Smith, who was originally wanted for failure to appear for discharging a firearm from Jasper County, and a parole violation from Missouri Probation and Parole for possession of marijuana.

Officers with Carterville and Oronogo Police Departments, along with deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this incident.
