For the first time in eight years, the Navy’s famed Blue Angels graced the skies over the Azle-Lake Worth area. The 2024 Wings Over Cowtown Airshow was held April 13-4 at the nearby Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Westworth Village. Aside from an offsite incident leading to a slight delay Sunday, the event went off without a hitch. In the days leading up to the event, area residents got a glimpse of the shows and training sessions from their own backyards. The free event dazzled nearby locals along with the many spectators who came from far and wide to see planes and helicopters flown in World War II, the Vietnam War and modern conflicts like the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over 100,000 people were predicted to have traveled to the area in order to see the show.
