At least four people have been killed after severe thunderstorms and tornadoes tore through parts of Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa on Saturday night. Hundreds of homes and structures were also damaged due to the storms, prompting Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt to issue a state of emergency on Sunday morning in 12 Oklahoma counties, which remains in effect for the next 30 days.

TONIGHT: It is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for the potential of strong to severe storms. Luckily, rain and cloud cover from the impactful system last night has limited a good amount of energy that could have been available today. This means that the majority of storms throughout the afternoon and evening will not have the ability to become strong to severe. There is still the threat of isolated stronger storms if they find an area that is more unstable. If this does occur, the main threats will be damaging winds and also include the potential for a brief, weak tornado. The majority of showers and thunderstorms this evening will not pose a severe weather threat, but excessive rainfall will result in a flash flooding threat. The Storm Team 11 Forecast calls for fair skies Sunday night with a low of 54 degrees. Monday will give way to a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 83 degrees. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are forecast for Monday night and Tuesday with scattered showers and a few possible thunderstorms on Tuesday. The low temperature Monday night will be 57 degrees with a high on Tuesday near 74 degrees. The chance of rain on Tuesday is 60%.

A few pop up showers made an appearance this afternoon, but they were very short-lived and a lot of us stayed dry all day. We also saw some pockets of sunshine that warmed temperatures up nicely. These mild temperatures stick with us overnight as we drop into the mid 60s. We expect the night to be calm, but clouds will build in overnight as rain moves in Monday morning.

The weekend has ended on a gorgeous note thanks to upper-ridging that has developed along with that warm front finally getting through. The SW breeze has helped our temps surge back into the 80s which is well above average! The warmth combined with some lift in the atmosphere to our north will make for a stray storm or two. I can't rule out a rouge stronger storm. Clouds continue to decrease through the overnight with high pressure firmly in control. Lows stay well above normal, dipping to around 60°. This ridge dominates into the workweek with highs even warmer on Monday. Afternoon readings surge back into the middle and upper 80s under a more sun than clouds. Just like Sunday, a spotty storm or two is possible. A cold front then moves in on Tuesday bringing better chances for scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening. With the instability in the atmosphere and more "organizational wind" we could see a few strong storms as well. An isolated shower could linger into Wednesday but it's looking drier as a whole. Temperatures drop a little behind the cold front, but not much. Highs stay above average through Friday, rounding out in the middle and upper 70s. Another storm system looks to move in by the end of the workweek into next weekend. A couple of showers or storms are possible on Friday, ahead of the c0ld front with boundary swinging through on Saturday. That'll bring more widespread showers and storms to the area as we kick-off the weekend. Behind this wave, highs drop back closer to 70 which is still seasonable for early May. Next weekend looks to end on a drier and seasonable note along with a bit more sunshine. A disturbance works toward the Mid-Atlantic Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week and that, once again, could bring isolated showers.

Today has been another great day to be outdoors with mostly sunny to partly sunny skies and plenty of warmth with high temperatures back in the low and mid 80s. Winds are breezy again out of the south and expect occasional gusts up to 20 mph through sunset. Skies will remain partly cloudy overnight with fairly light winds. Overnight lows will stay mild in the upper 50s to low and mid 60s through the early morning hours on Monday.
