Thomas “Tom” Lee Lyon, 57, of Waynetown passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his home.

He was born Sept. 3, 1965, at Crawfordsville, to the late William Robert “Bob” and Darlene (Cox) Lyon.

He graduated from Crawfordsville High School, Class of 1983. Tom married Sherrie Lewis on Sept. 2, 2004, at Turkey Run. He worked as a crane operator for Whitesville Mill for two years and a press operator at Heritage for 25 years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears football and Purdue Boilermaker basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Sherrie; children, Jeremiah Lyon of Waynetown, Hannah Lyon of Crawfordsville, Danielle (John Hayden) Lewis of Des Plaines, Illinois, Jamie (Lance) Curran of Mount Prospect, Illinois, and Harlie Westerman of Clinton; grandchildren, Addelaide Mylo Foy, Coen Curran and Yorke Curran; sister Deb (Kevin) Kinkead, Crawfordsville; brother Tony Lyon of Greencastle; mother-in-law Anita Lewis of Crawfordsville; sisters-in-law, Dawn Lewis of Crawfordsville and Carla Dailey Lewis of Lafayette; and nieces, Kayla (Chris) Barsotti, Kari Brant and Kristen (Chad) Gleason; aunt Sue Lyon of New Richmond; cousins, Kathi (Lonnie) Jones of New Richmond, Karen (Eric) Vickery of Crawfordsville, Kay Lyon of New Richmond; his best friends, Martin Fleener and Rick Stephenson; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; uncle Gene Lyon; father-in-law Fred Lewis; brother-in-law Brian Lewis.

Tom’s family extends a special thank you to their friends and family of Ben Hur Nursing Home and staff of Care Hospice, Marine Canine Cancer Center and Sanders Funeral Care. They would also like to thank Chris Risner from Creekside and any family and friends who sent gifts or stopped for a visit. The family is very appreciative of Tom’s Heritage friends who installed a flagpole with a Chicago Bears and Purdue Boilermaker flag.

Visitation at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, on Saturday, April 1 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon, with Rod Curran officiating.
