Increased Fishing Activity in Wayne County Following Recent Rainfall
Recent rainfall in Wayne County has increased fishing activity in local streams. Brown and steelhead fish are now present in Maxwell Creek, even with low water levels in Lake Ontario. Anglers are encouraged to fish in Furnace Creek, Maxwell, Salmon Creek, and Mink Creek. Recommended bait includes egg sacs or bright red spoons.
Winter weather advisory issued for parts of Rochester region. How much snow will we get?
A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Buffalo for parts of the Rochester region through Wednesday morning. The advisory covers Wayne County, where 4 to 7 inches of lake effect snow is expected on the eastern part of the county. According to the advisory, winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow. ...
Yellow Alert for Tuesday with lake effect snow showers and windy cold weather
ROCHESTER – Some snow will move through the region early Tuesday afternoon as gusty winds shift to the northwest and push some snow off of Lake Ontario. Coating to an inch for much of the region is expected. Behind this area of snow, local lake flakes will fly this afternoon into Tuesday night. Additional accumulations are likely for parts of the 104 corridor and much of Wayne County. Nothing major is expected, but an inch or two for parts of the metro and 3-6″ for parts of Wayne County through Tuesday night before tapering after midnight. Plan on some changeable winter conditions as you head out the rest of Tuesday as windblown lake flakes will cause some slick spots on the roads. Outside of the lake snows, plan on gusty winds and very cold weather into Wednesday. Stay tuned to News10NBC for the latest updates on the snowbands into Tuesday night.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Lake effect snows from Tuesday coated our region with some towns seeing 2-4″ around Rochester and parts of Wayne County. Lake effect on Wednesday is coming off of Erie and bringing some heavy snow to Buffalo that will drift north and weaken by midday. A little of that snow will reach parts of Orleans and Genesee Counties with flurries over western Monroe County to start the day.

NEWARK — The student side of Wayne County Economic Development’s Kick-Start Competition found a strong showing from the Red Creek Central School District. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man fatally shot while hunting in Wayne County over the weekend.
