Marvin Ridge junior QB Evan Medders commits to Air Force

A junior quarterback from Union County has pledged to attend and play football at the United States Air Force Academy. Evan Medders, a 6-foot, 195-pound dual threat quarterback made his big announcement on Sunday.

A junior quarterback from Union County has pledged to attend and play football at the United States Air Force Academy. Evan Medders, a 6-foot, 195-pound dual threat quarterback made his big announcement on Sunday.

Medders also held an offer from Charleston Southern University. On Monday night, he received an offer from West Point.

The class of 2024 prospect has been playing varsity football at Marvin Ridge since his freshman year in 2020-2021. Over his career, Medders has completed 268 of 427 passing attempts (62.8%) for 3,635 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. As a rusher, he's amassed 1,454 yards and 21 touchdowns. He's averaged 5.4 yards per rushing attempt.

Marvin Ridge has put up a combined overall win-loss record of 17-11 over Medders' three seasons. The 2020-2021 season was only six games long as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Mavericks have made the playoffs in each of the last season. In both playoff appearances, Marvin Ridge's season ended in a 10-point loss to county rival Weddington.

With the exception of sacks, the Mavericks are set to return their top two players in every statistcal category from last season.
