(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A 29-year-old woman faces felony battery charges after she stormed a Waukegan middle school to confront a student who had a previous altercation with her niece, police said.

Waukegan police officers responded Tuesday morning to John Lewis Middle School after two suspects, a woman and a man, had battered people inside the building before fleeing in a vehicle.

Arrested later was Angel S. Terry, who was charged with aggravated battery to a school employee and battery with bodily harm, both felonies, the Waukegan Police Department said in a news release.

The male suspect who reportedly was with her was still at large, police said.

Authorities say Terry and her accomplice went to the school “to confront another student about a previous altercation with her niece.” Staff members at the school were battered when they tried to bar the adults from entering, police said.

Terry then punched a student in the face, officials said. The man with her allegedly battered a staff member and a teacher before the pair fled.

Terry was expected to appear in court Wednesday. An investigation continues, police said.
