WATERTOWN, S.D.–A stretch of bike trail in Watertown that’s in very poor shape is about to get re-built.

Last night, the city council approved a bid from a Dell Rapids contractor to repair a half-mile stretch of the bike trail that runs along Highway 20 from near the entrance of Watertown Regional Airport to the turn off to South Lake Drive.

Parks Director Dusty Rodiek says that stretch is in awful shape right now…

Councilman Mike Danforth wondered if the issue with this stretch of bike trail could be part of a larger problem…

The bid to approve the half-mile stretch of bike trail along Highway 20 was awarded to BX Civil and Construction for just over $345,000.

Rodiek says it was originally built in the early 1980’s.
