Driver found fatally shot after crashing into Waterbury restaurant

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Waterbury police are investigating a homicide after an SUV driver was shot early Friday morning.

Police responded to a report of shots fired around 2 a.m. near North Main Street and East Farms Street. Responding officers found an SUV had crashed into Ingapirca Ecuadorian Restaurant at 807 North Main St.

Police said the adult male was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 35-year-old Eliut Canales of Waterbury.

Bullet holes are visible in the awning of the neighborhood business, Main Market.
