Hillary Clinton will not feel jealous if Harris wins White House: ‘Not anymore’

Former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton claimed she would not be jealous at all of Vice President Kamala Harris should she win the 2024 election .

Clinton made her comment on ABC's The View , during which they discussed her run for president against then-presidential candidate Donald Trump . Co-host Sunny Hostin asked if Clinton would wish she had been the first female president instead of Harris, prompting the former presidential candidate to respond, “Not anymore.”

“Because I did wonder how I would feel when, first, President Biden withdrew, endorsed the vice president,” Clinton said. “My husband and I quickly endorsed her, and I felt excited, exhilarated. I was literally thrilled, and it was in large measure because I know her, and I’ve been involved with her since she has been vice president. Her sister worked for me in 2016, so I’m just so personally fond of her, but also, I think she’s the right person for our country at this time.”

Clinton added that Harris is running for president with the intent to unite the country, as a divided country is vulnerable to “bad actors” in Russia and China . She also argued that the 2024 election will “determine the future of America.”

Earlier in her appearance on The View, Clinton addressed the most recent assassination attempt on Trump, clarifying that “everybody” needs to condemn political violence and protect political candidates. A few days earlier, Clinton stated after the second attempt on Trump’s life that the press was not having “a consistent narrative about how dangerous” the former president is.

Clinton’s comment against the press was harshly criticized by Trump adviser Alina Habba , who contended her language would be deemed “insurrectionist” if Trump or any of his aides had said it. She added she would “pray” for the former secretary of state, as she had said, “the most disturbing thing I have ever seen.”

Clinton is promoting her book, Something Lost, Something Gained: Reflections on Life, Love, and Liberty, with a tour across the nation . Her tour’s next stop is scheduled for Hollywood, California, and will conclude next month in Seattle, Washington.
