Gas prices continued to fall on Monday as the national average for a gallon of regular gas decreased to $3.270, according to AAA . This is the lowest price for a gallon of regular gas since it averaged $3.212 per gallon this past winter.
Monday’s price was nearly three cents cheaper than on Friday, when regular gas cost $3.296 per gallon. It was also a drop from Sunday, when the average price of a gallon of regular gas was $3.273. Monday’s prices are also less expensive now than a week ago, when the cost was $3.331 for a gallon of regular gas, and a month ago, when the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.454.
Prices continue to fall across the country, and there are now 11 states where the average price for regular gas is below $3 per gallon: Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina, and Kansas.

Gas prices continue to fall in Maryland on Monday with the average price for a gallon of regular gas at $3.183. This was a decrease from the weekend, when it cost $3.192 for a gallon of regular. It's also cheaper than a week ago when gas in Maryland was $3.26. Prices are also substantially cheaper than a month ago, when the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.488.
Virginia
In Virginia, the price for a gallon of regular gas cost $3.127 on Monday. This was a slight decrease from the weekend when it cost $3.137. Prices were also cheaper than from a week ago when it cost $3.197 per gallon and a month ago when the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.36.
Delaware
Gas prices continued to drop in Delaware on Monday, coming in at $3.099, the lowest in the Delmarva region. This was a slight drop from the weekend's price of $3.108 per gallon. Gas prices also decreased compared to a week ago, when the cost was $3.17 per gallon. And sticking with the national trend, gas prices in the First State on Monday are lower than a month ago, when they cost $3.438 per gallon.
Washington, D.C.
Unlike the rest of the area, gas prices in Washington, D.C., increased on Monday rising to $3.526 for a gallon of regular gas. This price is the highest in the region and much higher than the national average. It's an increase from the weekend when gas was $3.517. However, Monday's price in the district was actually lower than a week ago, when regular gas cost $3.592. It's also less expensive than a month ago when the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.679.

Mississippi
Mississippi had the least expensive regular gas prices in the country on Monday, at $2.79 per gallon. Following the pattern of many states throughout the nation, Monday's price was a decrease from last week, when a gallon of regular gas was $2.854 in Mississippi. A month ago, gas prices were slightly higher but remained the cheapest in the nation, at $2.961 per gallon.
California
Gas prices in California are soaring as of late, bucking the trend of many states throughout the nation. Monday's price for a gallon of regular gas is $4.712. This was higher than a week ago in the Golden State when it cost $4.65 for a gallon of regular gas. California's prices are also nearly 10 cents higher than Hawaii, which had been the state with the highest gas prices in the country. On Monday, a gallon of regular gas in the Aloha State was $4.628.
