Harris strategy is ‘avoid hard questions’ about her record: Kaylee McGhee White

Kaylee McGhee White argued Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign strategy is “avoid hard questions” from the press in the last two months before the election.

White, the Restoring America editor for the Washington Examiner, referenced footage shared online showing the vice president boarding a plane while wearing earbuds, which prompted some to claim she was doing so to avoid the press. White said her favorite part of the footage was how Harris held her phone up to her ear “as if she was taking a phone call” even though she was already wearing the wired earbuds.

“The whole thing doesn’t make sense, but this is her strategy: It’s to continue to dodge the press, avoid hard questions about her record and refuse to give answers to the American people,” White said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First. “And I think we can reliably expect her not to do a single sit-down interview after her disastrous one with CNN this past week.”

White also warned about the precedent that Harris’s strategy sets for future candidates. She said running a campaign “on just vibes and not policies” makes it impossible for voters to evaluate Harris properly. White added that the vice president “seems to forget” that the president of the United States works as a “public servant” to voters and that Harris is doing everything she can to avoid the public.

One major factor Harris has avoided addressing is the Biden administration’s foreign policy, specifically in the wake of six Israeli hostages found dead over the past week. White explained that the death of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American citizen, and five other Hamas hostages marks the latest example of the administration's “disastrous” record on foreign policy endangering the lives of U.S. citizens.

“And I say this as someone whose brother serves in the Navy proudly,” White said. “I do worry about him if Kamala Harris were to take over as commander in chief, and I’m sure that there are a lot of other military families out there who feel the exact same way.”

Harris will have the opportunity to answer questions from the press next week during the presidential debate , which ABC News will host on Sept. 10. Former President Donald Trump has said he is looking forward to debating Harrist and stated , “She’ll be exposed.”

The Harris campaign is seeking to debate Trump with live microphones for the entirety of the debate , which is a change from CNN’s debate, during which candidates had their microphones muted when it was not their turn to talk. Jason Miller, Trump’s senior adviser, has insisted that the debate rules are “not changing " and accused the Harris campaign of being afraid to debate the former president.
