A man was wounded in a lunchtime shooting inside a restaurant along D.C.'s H Street corridor Tuesday.
According to Metropolitan Police Department officials, the shooting happened inside Tony's Place in the 1400 block of H Street NE around 12:40 p.m.
The victim was an employee of the restaurant, Capt. Kevin Kentish said during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The man was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds when police arrived on the scene. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating what led to the shooting but say there was a dispute or some type of altercation inside the restaurant.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the area, collecting evidence, and speaking to witnesses at the scene. It appears to be an isolated incident.
The suspect ran from the scene after the shooting, police said. He's described as a man in his mid-20s, with long dreads in a bun, a thin build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and white shoes.
