11-year-old arrested in connection with robbery, assault cases
An 11-year-old is now in police custody and is wanted in connection with a violent crime spree. FOX 5’s Stephanie Ramirez is in Northwest D.C. digging into this in D.C.'s Park View neighborhood.
WASHINGTON - An 11-year-old boy was arrested by D.C. Police and is facing charges in connection with at least three robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon offenses.
In one incident, the suspect allegedly tells the victim, "Give me your phone, or I'll shoot you," and, "Haha I got you," later, according to a police report released on Tuesday.
However, police say the 11-year-old suspect still ended up robbing the victim.
All three incidents connected to this one child appear to have occurred within Northwest D.C.’s Park View neighborhood.
D.C. police said the first incident took place on Sunday, May 21, at around 2:45 p.m.
That’s when a police report states the suspect approached the victim, and tried to rob their bicycle. When the victim did not comply, police say the suspect showed a gun, robbed the victim of their property, and ran.
Surveillance video post to D.C. police's YouTube page appears to show two young boys walking not far from Georgia Avenue and Lamont Street Northwest. Police are labeling both boys as persons of interest.
On Wednesday, May 24, police said two suspects on bicycles approached a victim in the 700 block of Irving Street NW. The victim pushed one of the suspects and ran, according to police. That victim also told authorities while running away, they saw one suspect point a gun in their direction.
The third incident, on 400 block of Luray Place NW, is where the police report describes the victim as saying, "Haha I got you."

11-year-old DC boy arrested
An 11-year-old D.C. boy has been arrested and is facing charges in connection with robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon offenses.
However, the police report states the suspect still ended up robbing the victim of a phone and keys and then allegedly got into the victim’s car. Police said the young suspect was unable to move the car.
Authorities said the suspect later threw the victim’s phone at the victim and fled on a bicycle.
FOX 5 reached out to the D.C. Attorney General’s Office for comment, and we're still waiting for a response.
After hearing comments from the community summer jobs for youth, we also reached out to D.C.’s Department of Employment Services to confirm how many youth summer job slots were made available by the city this year and how many youths applied. FOX 5 is still waiting for that response.
Police only announced an arrest in connection with the three incidents. The 11-year-old was arrested on Saturday, May 27. The official charges from D.C. police are: robbery while armed, assault with a dangerous weapon and robbery fear.
FOX 5 was told the juvenile suspect appeared in court on Monday and was held.
