Boeing celebrated Women's History Month on Monday by hosting a celebratory reception and dinner for a group of World War II "Rosie the Riveters."
The women flew in on an honor flight to the nation's capitol and met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and got to tour the U.S. Capitol building.
During the reception, Boeing's very own Rosie the Riveter Mae Krier along with the rest of the Rosies were recognized with a presentation. Krier was one of the youngest of the original Rosies when she was hired by Boeing to build bomber planes in 1943.
The honor flight that brought the women to D.C. was made possible by the Eastern Michigan Women Ordinance Workers Chapter of the American Rosie the Riveter Association, in partnership with Honor Flight Network’s Michigan-based hub, Talons Out Honor Flight. Additionally, generous donations from Michigan community members and local organizations helped pay for the flight.
