Two Andean bear cubs are out and about, exploring their habitat at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute in Washington, D.C.
The brothers, who were born on Nov. 15, 2022, made their outdoor debut at the zoo Monday morning.

Sara Colandrea, the zoo's animal keeper and Andean Bear Species Survival Plan coordinator, says the four-month-old cubs will most likely be out in the mornings.
"People can generally see them early in the morning, we are still limiting their time out," Colandrea said. "The mornings are probably the best times, roughly 9 or 10 o'clock."
Smithsonian officials say they are the first cubs born to 4-year-old mother Brienne and 9-year-old father Quito.
They are now on exhibit near the lower entrance to American Trail, weather permitting. You can also watch them live on the Andean Bear Cub Cam.
