WASHINGTON - Three years in prison. Riley Williams, originally arrested and charged with stealing Nancy Pelosi’s laptop during the January 6 riots was sentenced today in a D.C. federal courtroom. Despite being acquitted of that charge, Williams was found guilty on six other counts and was sentenced for those crimes, including Disorderly Conduct, today.

“She is relieved it's over and is so ready to move on with her life. Yes, it's been a long two years,” said Federal Public Defender Lori Uhlrich.

A long two years was first preceded by a long 90 minutes inside the Capitol during the riots. A jury found the 24-year-old Harrisburg native guilty on six counts. However, that same jury determined there was not enough evidence to convict her of stealing Nancy Pelosi's laptop.

“She did not take the computer. That's really why she became so infamous,” said Uhlrich after a three-hour long sentencing hearing today.

Still, Judge Amy Berman Jackson said Williams “poured fuel on the fire” helping to incite the crowds in the Capitol including the group overtaking Speaker Pelosi’s office.

“I'm happy she can put it behind her is my first reaction,” said Uhlrich.

Prosecutors pushed for a heftier sentence calling for Williams to spend 87 months in prison. During the hearing today, Federal prosecutor Sam Dalke judged the insurrection to be the “blackest hour on one of the darkest days in history.”

“Everywhere she went, every minute inside the Capitol, she dialed up mayhem,” Dalke said to the judge.

The defense now has 14 days to decide if they will appeal the judge's decision. As for Riley Williams, over the next few weeks, she will be transferred out of Alexandria Jail and into the federal prison system. Her attorney requested that she does her time in Danbury, Connecticut, close to family as well as programming that can help turn her life around.
