Beverly Williams, a correctional officer, pleaded guilty Wednesday to taking bribes to smuggle drugs into the D.C. jail.
Williams admitted she conspired with a drug dealer and an inmate in return for the bribes.
As part of her plea, Williams, 52, of Upper Marlboro, Md., admitted that, between June and September of 2022 she accepted bribes from a drug dealer to smuggle narcotics into the jail, according to court documents.
Williams would get drugs from Keywaune McLeod, 28, of D.C., and conceal them on her body to get them into the jail, where the inmate would distribute the narcotics for profit.
McLeod used CashApp to make bribe payments to Williams, according to court documents.
Williams was charged in September and October 2022 in a three-co-defendant complaint and was later indicted.
McLeod, Williams, and Andre Gregory, 31, an inmate awaiting trial, were charged with conspiracy, bribery, and smuggling.
The charges against Gregory remain pending.
Williams faces a statutory maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and possible financial penalties.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 12.
U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and FBI Assistant Director in Charge David Sundberg of the Washington Field Office announced the guilty plea by Williams.
