Employment Dispute Leads To Murder Of DC Man In Temple Hills, Police Say

Police have arrested a suspect accused of killing a Washington, DC man in Temple Hills last month, authorities announced.

Omar Delonte Smith, 27, is believed to have fatally shot Eugene Smith, 31, in the 3100 block of Branch Avenue in the late night hours of Thursday, Feb. 23, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

Investigators say officers found Eugene Smith laying outside of a business in the 3100 block of Branch Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now they believe they have a motive behind the murder.

Omar Smith is believed to have killed Eugene Smith over an employment dispute, according to police. Omar Smith has been charged with first and second-degree murder and related charges.

Omar Smith is in custody in Richmond, Virginia, and is awaiting extradition to face the charges.

It is not clear whether or not the suspect and victim were related.
