1 dead, at least 12 injured after tour bus rolls over in upstate NY: ‘Horrific incident’

One person was killed and at least 12 others were injured after a Canadian tour bus rolled over in upstate New York on Friday, according to officials.

The crash occurred just around 12:49 p.m. in the southbound lane of Interstate 87 in the popular Adirondack resort town of Lake George in Warren County — about four hours north of New York City, its destination, according to state police and local agencies.

The Skyway Coach Line tour bus was traveling from Montreal with 23 on board, including the bus driver, according to state police.

One passenger was killed, another was seriously injured and 10 suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the agency said.

The majority of passengers, who were en route to catch flights in the Big Apple, were Canadian, the Times Union reported, citing Warren County spokesman Don Lehman.

One passenger was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in critical condition, police said. At least 12 others were taken to Glens Falls Hospital with minor injuries, a hospital spokesman said.

Lake George Central School district confirmed to The Post that it deployed a bus to the crash site that brought injured passengers to the firehouse in Lake George.

The southbound lanes of I-87 remain closed between Exits 23 and 22, state police said Friday evening.

The Fort William Hotel in Lake George is offering tour bus passengers a free night stay and food, Lehman told News 10.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said her office had been made aware of the crash and that Department of Transportation workers were at the scene.

“I join the people of New York in praying for the well-being of all involved in this horrific incident and am deeply grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders,” she said in a statement.

The state police are urging witnesses or drivers with dashcam videos who may have recorded the crash to contact Troop G at 518-783-3211.
