Wareham police warn residents of bear that ‘refused to stop for questioning’

WAREHAM, Mass — This bear is on a mission and isn’t stopping for anything.

Wareham police are warning residents of a bear that was seen in the area of Indian Mound.

According to police, the bear is moving at a high rate of speed and ‘refusing to stop for questioning.’

Another bear was also spotted this week taking a dip near the docks in Buzzard’s Bay. It is unclear if it is the same bear spotted in Wareham.

Police ask if you see the bear, to maintain a safe and respectful distance from all wildlife and absolutely do not approach it.

As always, please maintain a safe and respectful distance from all wildlife and absolutely do not approach. Wareham police are also recommending keeping pets indoors.

If you have concerns or questions, please call Animal Control at (508)291-3100 ext. 3183.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
