Man ejected from vehicle in serious accident
An adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a possible head injury when he was ejected from his SUV after hitting a utility pole on Jefferies Boulevard. The small SUV was traveling northbound when it left the roadway, jumped a ditch and struck the power pole, breaking it into three pieces. The SUV then flipped over multiple times before landing on its side in a field. The man was found lying in the field near the SUV. Bystanders had stopped to render aid. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene. He was then transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. He was transferred to the flight crew, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. The accident is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol.
