WALNUT COVE — South Stokes’ Haley Tyndall has played multiple sports through her first three years of high school, but golf is the one she likes the most.
The rising senior noted that golf has taught her the most including the ups and downs of life and that you can not let the downs effect you but get stronger from it.
Tyndall ran outdoor track while playing softball during the spring for a couple of seasons, and has played basketball and golf during her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.
Haley helped the basketball team to their first winning season in over a decade last year and has qualified for the 1A/2A NCHSAA Golf State Championship all three years.
She was the Northwest 1A Golfer of the Year during her sophomore year and helped the Sauras to a conference championship during her freshman year. She has been All-Conference and All-County all three years.
Tyndall enjoys hunting with her father and loves living on her family’s farm and visiting everyone around her.
Haley is looking forward to her last year of playing sports with her friends, not just from South Stokes, but from the other schools as well.
Her favorite thing about high school is all the opportunities that it has given to her and the friends she has made, even with the teachers and coaches.
She plays on the Peggy Kirk Bell Golf Tour and is a member of the Fellowship of Chrisitan Athletes, Pep Club, National Honor Society, High School Scholar, and was awarded the Zim Zimmerman Sportsmanship Scholarship and the Anna Howerton-Macy Pate Sportsmanship Award.
Tyndall’s plans are to focus on playing golf during her senior year. She hopes to get a scholarship for it and go to college and major in psychology.
