Hold on to your hats (and umbrellas!) Here's when you can expect rain this week
By Meteorologist Tiffany Savona,
REGIONAL - It was somewhat of a cool and breezy weekend and those conditions will continue to start off the new work week. However, we won't stay dry as rain is expected to fall throughout the region today. We do have some breaks in the clouds, but those clouds will continue to thicken and lower once the rain pushes in.
Waking up this morning, Kittitas and Yakima Counties are in the mid to high 30s while the Tri-Cities region, down through Walla Walla and the Hermiston regions hover in the mid to high 40s. Showers develop just to the east of Walla Walla and Dayton. In the higher elevations of the Cascades, we're seeing a Winter Weather Advisory.
TODAY
You will definitely need that jacket today and grab the rain jacket if you have it, or take your umbrella with you. It's going to be a breezy day and winds are already up out of the south and west between 10 and 15 mph. We could see gusts today as high as 30 to 35 mph. By noon we have most of the shower activity pushing off to the east, however, later in the afternoon we could see a few more spotty showers develop, maybe even a few rumbles of thunder. That's how much energy this storm system is packing. It looks like the most widespread steady rain will be early this morning. Scattered showers and cool and breezy today. Temps stay in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
TONIGHT
The rain starts to diminish in coverage. It stays breezy overnight and temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s.
TOMORROW
Stray shower possible but rain chances are about 20%. There will be a lot of clouds in play but it will stay a breezy day. Temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s for much of the region. Cooler and breezy weather continues.
THIS WEEK
As for how much rain we can expect, it's not much. It could be anywhere from a couple of hundredths to maybe a 10th of an inch. We could see a quarter inch along the foothills of the Blues but we're not going to add much to our April monthly rain totals. We definitely need the rain at the moment. For the start of May, we'll still be in temps below average. Temperatures later in the week could see the 70s but it's a little more uncertain at this point.
