The 17th annual Run, Walk, Ride Around Woman Lake will be held May 3, the weekend before Fishing Opener.

The event gives serious runners a chance to get ready for Grandma’s Marathon, and the rest of us a chance to get ready for all the fun activities spring and summer have to offer.

After taking a closer look at Hope Lutheran Church’s offer to sell its building behind the court house to the county to be remodeled into more office space, the County Board has declined the offer.

The decision was part of a facility planning report, with an estimate of $100 per square foot to remodel, based on calculations by Wold Architects.

Walker Warriors reached new heights last week when six Speech Team members qualified for the State Speech Meet.

The students are Lori Reinke, Chris Coffey, Tim Plinke, Holly Hallett, Barry Brueland and Jackie Arends.

At the regional meet in Thief River Falls, Walker led 40 other schools in number of students going to state with 6; followed by Park Rapids, 4; Crookston 3; and Ada, 2.
