Boil order in effect for entire town of Wakarusa

A large water main break has led to a boil order for the town of Wakarusa.

Officials say the leak was found on State Road 19 outside of Forest River RVs, and “compromised the system.”

Residents in Wakarusa are also being advised to stop watering yards and gardens.

Water that’s bottled or boiled for a full minute and cooled should be used for drinking and prepaing food, even if the water is filtered.

Water from appliances connected to your water line, including ice makers, should not be used.

Officials will lift the boil order once the water tests negative for chemicals.
