With a playoff game on the line, Pompton Lakes rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Dayton Bulldogs. Three injured in two-vehicle collision on U.S. 12
WALLA WALLA – Three people were injured Friday at 7:19 p.m. in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 12 at Sudbury Road in Walla Walla. The Washington State Patrol reports Clayton A. Gierke, 28, of Kennewick attempted to pass Sylvie L. Dale, 53, of Beaverton, Oregon. Gierke lost control of his pickup and struck Dale’s vehicle.
Monday rain coming to an end, wind advisory in most of our regions
The Pacific Northwest has experienced a wet 24 hours, and the rain continues to fall across the region. This deluge has brought significant rainfall, much needed in some areas. Walla Walla and the Tri-Cities have each received over an inch of rain, with Walla Walla measuring slightly more. Pendleton recorded about 0.32 inches, nearly a quarter of an inch, while Hermiston and Yakima saw considerably less, with Hermiston around a tenth of an inch and Yakima only a few hundredths. Rainfall in Yakima has already ceased.

USACE Reminds Visitors About Seasonal Fire Restrictions
CLARKSTON – Starting June 10th, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Walla Walla District will be implementing a seasonal ban on wood fires in all USACE fire rings, grills, and metal containers at sites along the Lower Snake River. This is a preventive action to minimize the risk of human-caused fires during wildfire season and to protect public lands for continued recreational usage.

The Allen Shoup Memorial Fellowship was established in 2024 in memory of Allen Shoup, who passed away in 2022. Shoup played a pioneering role in developing the Washington wine industry as the longtime head of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. He later became the founder and owner of Long Shadows Vintners winery.
