The Wahpeton baseball team won their third-place game against Jamestown by score of 6-3 to claim their best finish at the North Dakota State Baseball Tournament in school history.

Caden Hockert went the distance on the hill, holding Jamestown to five hits, three earned runs while striking out four batters.

Jayden King plated half of Wahpeton’s runs in a 1-3 showing with a double.

Gavin Schroeder made it home twice and Caden Kappes went 2-4 with a run scored.

The Huskies end their season with a record of 16-7, winning their first East Region Championship in Huskies history in the process.

The historic season also saw Wahpeton Head Coach Andrew Lunsetter win North Dakota Class A Coach of the Year.

West Fargo Sheyenne, who bested Wahpeton in the semifinal round, went on to win their third-straight state title with a 3-2 win over Fargo North.
