Police Officer Matthew Ingui Rescued Three Dogs From House Fire In Rocky Point
A Suffolk County Police officer rescued three dogs that were trapped inside a house that was on fire in Rocky Point this afternoon. Seventh Precinct Officer Matthew Ingui responded to a 911 call reporting a house fire, located at 181 Magnolia Drive, and saw three dogs through the window of the residence at 5:09 p.m. Officer Ingui smashed the window of the home and was able to pull the three dogs to safety. The residents of the home were not in the residence at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.

Pedestrian seriously injured in hit-and-run crash in Medford
Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating and hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Medford on May 25. A man was crossing County Road 101, at the intersection of Southaven Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes at approximately 8:35 p.m. The vehicle continued northbound without stopping. The man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for selling tobacco and vape products to a person under the age of 21 during a compliance check at a Center Moriches store. Suffolk D.A.: Calverton man sentenced to 14 years in prison for shooting at crowd
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced on May 22 that Steven Reid, 27, of Calverton, was sentenced to 14 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to attempted murder, assault, and other related charges, for opening fire at a candlelight vigil in Bellport in July 2023, and for his unprovoked attack on a corrections officer in December 2023, while he was in custody.
