AUSTIN / FREESTONE COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPWD) has announced that Fairfield Lake State Park has closed to the public. The organization says the park has been open for day use visitation while TPWD and its commissioners took “persistent and extraordinary steps” to negotiate with Todd Interests, which purchased the property from Vistra Corp. TPWD extended a formal offer totaling $25 million as incentive for Todd Interests to relinquish its contract, which would have allowed TPWD to purchase the park from Vistra. Todd Interests rejected the offer.

KILLEEN, Texas (FOX 44) – The City of Killeen has contained a sewage leak at Reece Creek caused by the rupture of a domestic force main pipe. Crews responded to the creek at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and conducted a thorough inspection in the area southeast of Texas A&M Central Texas – which is adjacent to where the sewage was entering the creek.

KILLEEN, Texas (FOX 44) – A 23-year-old man is dead after a multi-vehicle crash in Killeen. Killeen Police say that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Rosewood Drive and E. Central Texas Expressway at approximately 4:18 p.m. Saturday in reference to a major crash involving a pinned driver. When officers arrived, a driver and passenger of a vehicle involved were both transported to the hospital in critical condition.

TEMPLE, Texas (FOX 44) – A man is in the hospital after an early morning shooting in Temple. Property damage has also been reported. Temple Police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of S. 32nd Street at approximately 1:31 a.m. Monday in response to a call of shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered damage to two residences and one vehicle from gunshots. They did not find a victim at the scene.

HOUSTON (KIAH) — A north Texas superintendent who has been accused of planning to come to Houston to meet an underage girl for sex has been suspended by the school board. The Itasca ISD board has suspended superintendent Michael Stevens after he was arrested last week at Itasca High School by authorities in Harris County on charges of solicitation of a minor. According to court documents, Stevens allegedly contacted an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl on an undisclosed app, and sent her inappropriate messages and photos, including the intent to drive to Houston to meet the girl for sex, authorities said.

Waco, Tx (FOX44) – Waco Police have found a man they say is a suspect in the taking of a car from a woman at gunpoint back in May. It was at 3:39 p.m. on May 9 when officers were dispatched on a suspicious persons call in the area of South 12th Street and Speight Avenue. While they were on that call, officers also received information about a woman who was robbed at gunpoint nearby in the 1100 block of South 11th Street.

Gatesville, Tx (FOX44) – A 33-year-old man is facing felony charges and remains in the Coryell County Jail after a pursuit with speeds well over 100 miles per hour. The Coryell County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred on Sunday night. An arrest affidavit filed in the case indicated a deputy was notified by dispatch at 10:42 p.m. that a reckless driver was reported traveling north on FM-116, with the driver going in and out of his traffic lane. The caller reported the vehicle as being a red Kia Sorento, and the deputy was given the license plate number.
