Public comment extended for data center water supply near Broadview
CORRECTION ON OCT. 23 AT 4:44 p.m. — The estimated after-construction water consumption number has been updated from 200,000 to 20,000. BROADVIEW, Mont. — The Montana Department of Environmental Quality is extending their request for public comment through Nov. 6 for a proposed well for the Quantica Big Sky Campus data center near Broadview. According to the DEQ website , the well will provide around 150,000 gallons of water per day during construction, and 20,000 gallons per day after construction. In addition to construction and drinking water, the well may also be used to provide water for cooling the high-density servers. The well itself will target the Madison aquifer, which is about 1,000 feet deeper than the Eagle Sandstone aquifer, which provides most of the nearby water supplies. To submit public comments on the proposed well and environmental review, visit the Montana Department of Environmental Quality website . A variety of other regulations may apply to data centers including, but not limited to, additional water quality engineering review, air quality, water rights, and zoning. Additional permit applications would trigger additional opportunities for public comment.

Billings mobile-home owners seek more protections as lot rents continue to rise across Montana
BILLINGS, Mont. — For some mobile-home owners in Montana, the place they’ve called home for decades is becoming harder to afford as lot rents continue to rise. In Billings, residents of Golden Meadows say the increases are leaving them uncertain about their future and worried about what happens if they can no longer afford to stay. They’re looking for ways to protect their homes, explore potential solutions and have a greater say in decisions affecting their lives. For Nancy Moore, who has lived at Golden Meadows for 30 years, the uncertainty is especially difficult. She raised two children in the community and now worries about where she would go if she could no longer afford her lot rent. “I guess homelessness would be my next option, and that terrifies me,” Moore said. Moore said she doesn’t know what would happen to her mobile home if she had to leave. “I have this trailer. What do I do with it? Is it going to just fall apart? Do I walk away from it? It’s been my home for 30 years. I’ve raised two kids there. I really, truly do not know what my options are after this,” she said. Other residents
