UNT Receives $3 Million Gift to Establish New Department of Data Science
DENTON — The University of North Texas (UNT) has announced a $3 million gift from Vikas and Anuradha Sinha to support the creation of the new Department of Data Science in UNT’s College of Information. The department, named the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha Department of Data Science, will open in January 2025. The donation will fund scholarships, professorships, research, and special initiatives within the new department.

DENTON – Texas Woman’s University (TWU) Theatre will kick off its 2024-25 season with ‘Kid Simple,’ a unique production blending drama, comedy, and a history of sound effects in entertainment. The play will run from October 9 to 13 at Redbud Theater. Directed by Dr. Patrick Bynane, the production features live Foley sound effects, a form of creative sound design often used in radio plays and films.

Walmart Launches Drone Delivery Service in Partnership with Wing in Denton

The service will be available to residents within a six-mile radius of the store, offering delivery of select smaller items. DENTON, Texas — For nearly 60 years, the University of North Texas (UNT) Speech and Hearing Center has provided essential services to individuals with speech, language, and hearing disorders across North Texas and southern Oklahoma. The center offers a variety of services in speech-language pathology and audiology, while also serving as a training ground for students enrolled in UNT’s Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

The City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Department received the highest compliance rating from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the fourth year in a row. The City also shared a regional transportation project report and announced temporary closures of local dog parks for maintenance. Denton Municipal Electric dispatched staff to assist with hurricane recovery in Georgia, and several informational videos were released by the City’s DTV team. Additionally, staff addressed Council inquiries regarding voting history updates, the expected lifting of water restrictions, and tax credit determinations for affordable apartments.
