Man indicted on 77 cruelty, inadequate care of animals charges

The Suffolk Circuit Court Grand Jury indicted a Virginia Beach man on 14 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and 63 misdemeanor counts on inadequate care of an animal by its owner.

The circuit court also ordered a capias for the arrest of Jarred Fitzgerald, 38, of Virginia Beach, on the 77 misdemeanor charges, ordering that once he is in custody that he be held in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail to await trial.

The indictments allege that Fitzgerald, as an owner of a companion animal, failed to provide adequate feed, water, shelter that is property cleaned or veterinary care needed to prevent suffering or disease Dec. 28, 2022.

On the inadequate care by owner indictments, four counts were first offenses, while the remaining 59 were second or subsequent offenses.

During its May 22 session, the Grand Jury handed down a total of 159 counts against 48 people.

Djean Ahmad Brown — Aggravated malicious wounding

Jayden Brown — Robbery-using force, conspiracy robbery using force

Mathew Thomas Brown — Embezzlement greater than or equal to $1,000

Larry James Carr — Stolen property-intent to sell/etc., grand larceny greater than $1,000

Andrew Thont Chaves — Unauthorized use of a vehicle $1,000

Travis Deshaun Clark — Violent felon possession of a firearm, attempted malicious wounding

Jasmine Monique Crowder — Failure to return bailed property

John Carr Duke — Construction fraud greater than $1,000

 

Matthew Kyle Fisher — Unauthorized use of a vehicle $1,000, grand larceny-vehicle $1,000, grand larceny greater than $1,000, larceny with intent to sell greater than $1,000, larceny of an animal, grand larceny of a vehicle greater than $1,000, larceny of a firearm, grand larceny-from the person, larceny with intent to sell greater than $1,000, statutory burglary-building and credit card theft

Tivontre Q. Gaitling-Mouzon — Violent felon possessing/transporting a weapon

Thara Garner — Communicate threat in writing

Jonathan George — Assault and battery of a law enforcement officer (two counts)

Willie Keshawn Green — Violent felon possessing/transporting a weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a schedule I/II drug, and capias direct indictments for concealed weapon-carry misdemeanor, violent felon possessing/transporting a firearm and possession of a gun with a schedule I/II drug

Aaron Jamaal Hale — Communicate a threat in writing, violent felon possessing/transporting a weapon (two counts)

Melvin Lee Harden Jr. — Possession of a schedule I/II drug

Charlotte Marie Hill — Falsify purchase form for a firearm, attempted possession of a firearm by a non-violent felon
