Two people are in jail accused of agreeing to sell marijuana illegally from their growing operations in Vinita to buyers on the black market.

Instead, those buyers were actually undercover agents with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.

OBN agents said they arrested Thai Xiong and Kia Xiong after raiding four marijuana grow farms the two are associated with.

Agents said they were first tipped off in December about a woman in a parking lot trying to illegally sell the marijuana.

“We made multiple buys and brought our agents in undercover posing as out-of-state black market buyers,” said Mark Woodward, a spokesperson for OBN.

A sign posted on the fence of one of the properties says “United Star LLC.” Records show Thai Xiong was approved for the license on this property last June.

News On 6 tried calling the number listed but did not get an answer.

Investigators said three of the four farms that were raided are in Vinita. The other property was in Okfuskee County.

Agents said they took 7,000 plants, 250 pounds of processed marijuana, and four guns.

In the last two years, OBN said it has shut down 800 farms for illegally getting a license or growing marijuana to sell on the black market.

Agents said in many cases, these operations are in trouble for doing both.

The investigation is early and more arrests are likely, according to agents.
