Pretrial hearing for Fernando Acosta Jr. to be held Thursday

On Sunday, April 18, 2021, the Matagorda County Sheriff's Office found human remains in a burned-out 2018 Ford Explorer and confirmed the remains to be of Amanda Johnson, 38. Johnson had two children.

According Matagorda District Attorney Steven Reis, Acosta is being charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of corpse and murder
