A 41-year-old worker at a car wash in Verona was seriously injured Sunday when a vehicle veered off the road and struck him as he worked on a different car in the front driveway of the business, authorities said.

The 75-year-old driver was headed east on Bloomfield Avenue when he lost control of his car and hit the employee of Quality Car Care shortly before 5 p.m., Verona police said.

After the vehicle hit the worker, it slammed into two other cars as well as a utility pole, officials said. The driver, a Bayville resident, was brought to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
