Drugs found in focused patrol

VERMILLION COUNTY — On March 21 at approximately 8:12 pm, deputies were conducting focused patrols in the west side area of Fairview due to reports of suspicious and possible drug-related activities. During their patrol, deputies observed a vehicle turn southbound onto Geneva Hills Rd; failing to use their turn signal. Deputies began to follow the vehicle and observed that the vehicle was having trouble maintaining their lane.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on CR 200 E and SR 63. Due to the reports of drug activity in the area and the vehicle being observed to drive down the center of the roadway, deputies requested K9 Deputy Nick Hall to assist at the scene. While performing an open air sniff of the vehicle K9 Zeus alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

After a search of the vehicle, deputies located 14.4 grams of methamphetamine packaged in separate containers; along with several items of paraphernalia (including scales.) Both the driver, Michael Giordano, 40, of Clinton, IN, and passenger Crystal Garbani, 37 ofClinton, IN, initially denied ownership of the methamphetamine that was discovered.

Giordano and Garbani were transported to the Vermillion County Jail and booked on the following charges:

Possession of Methamphetamines at least 10gm but less than 28gm (Lvl 4 Felony)

Dealing Methamphetamines at least 5gm (Lvl 3 Felony)

Possession of Paraphernalia (A Misd)

Giordano is being held on a $100,000 bond (no 10% allowed)

Garbani is being held on a $35,000 bond (no 10% allowed)
