Vancouver mom, 2 kids no longer considered missing

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A mother described as being in a mental health crisis who took off from Vancouver with her 2 young children Saturday night was found Sunday, Vancouver police said, adding they are no longer considered missing.

Bethany Shaffer, her 10-year-old son and her 7-year-old daughter were considered to be high-risk missing people, Vancouver police said. Shaffer, 35, was last seen around 5:30 p.m. Saturday driving the children away from their home.

Then, around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Vancouver police said, “Bethany Shaffer along with her two children were contacted and their welfare checked. They have been removed as missing persons and family has been notified.”

No other details were immediately available.
