Los Fresnos hosts 7th annual Cowboy Cookoff

LOS FRESNOS, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Los Fresnos’ 7th annual Cowboy Cookoff took place on Saturday.

The annual event brought in 45 competitiors from across Texas to claim the grand prize and to share the love of BBQ with the community.

“We’ve had a really good turnout,” said Larry Cantu, a committee member of the Cowboy Cookoff event. “Lot of people from the community come out and sampling some great food.”

During the event, competitors participated in the People’s Choice Award to be recognized as a fan-favorite.

“It’s for the community. For people to come out and do something and enjoy some great tasting barbecue,” Cantu continued. “South Texas has some of the best barbecue cooks in the world.”

Cantu reminds Valley residents of future events happening at Los Fresnos Rodeo Grounds.
