STC hosts ribbon cutting for new fire training facility

PHARR, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — South Texas College hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate its new fire training facility.

This addition to STC’s Regional Center for Public Safety Excellence, makes STC the only higher education institution in South Texas with a dedicated fire training facility.

The facility is two stories tall and will allow fire crews to train using doors and windows. There is also a kitchen and bedroom set up for training.

These features allow for the simulation of different scenarios, providing students with the opportunity to put classroom learning into hands-on practice in a safe and controlled environment.

STC says the facility will also be available to other Rio Grande Valley departments.
