Judy Uecker, 81, Valley City, ND passed away at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND on May 24, 2023. There will be a time for visiting and sharing memories with her family at the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00 PM on Thursday, June 1. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City.

Judy Ann Uecker was born in Valley City, ND on September 24, 1941. She was the daughter of George and Hilda (Meidinger) Person. Judy grew up in Litchville, ND where she went to school, graduating in 1959. Later in life, she’d attend VCSU and attain a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Library Sciences. She made the Dean’s list while in college.

After high school, she married Eugene Uecker and together they had 5 lovely children. Judy worked at the Sheyenne Care Center as an administrative assistant. Later, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD and worked at Sioux Valley Medical Center. Eventually, she made her way back to Valley City and finished her working years as a library aide at the Valley City Barnes County Public Library.

She was a 7th Day Adventist and a member of TOPS.

Besides her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Judy loved KISS (mainly Paul Stanley). Her appreciation of music ranged beyond KISS and went as far as classical and symphony. She enjoyed going to arts and craft shows, gardening, and reading. She had a collection of Native American items and some creepy dolls. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, with a special place for vampires. She had a one-of-a-kind, genuine sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Judy is survived by her son, Shawn (Tammy Pfaff) Uecker; daughters, Kim (Curtis Flexhaug) Sandbothe, Pamela Mowl, Jacqueline (Lonny) Heinemann, and Leslie (Steve Klein) Uecker; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ginger Grundhauser.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert “Bob” Person.
