A Fairfield native, Jason Hefner, is attempting a Guinness World Record at the California International Marathon by running with a 100-pound pack in under five hours. The attempt is not just for the record but also to raise funds for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.

After a three-game skid in the SoCal Challenge tournament, Sacramento State prepared to take on their biggest rival in UC Davis. After the Tulane loss the two following games were hard pills to swallow as the Hornets had a double-digit lead in the second half of both and lost both by a combined seven points.

Tiger basketball team is starting off with a bang this year as it hosts the Derek Smith Invitational this weekend. The Invitational is host to some of the most talented prospects in the country, including the only team in the history of high school basketball to have the number one player in multiple classes on the same team in Prolific Prep. The event features three of the nation’s top 25 teams (Prolific Prep, Link Academy, Bishop O’Connell) and five teams from Kentucky (Seneca, Bardstown, Frederick Douglass, Desales, St. X). UC Davis men’s soccer team finishes season out strong, makes it to finals
An end-of-season lookback from some of the players. As one of the most well-known UC Davis Division I athletic teams, the men’s soccer team finished out their season with a difficult game against the UC Irvine Anteaters. The game ended in a nail-biting penalty kick (pk) shootout with neither the Aggies nor the Anteaters scoring in normal time or overtime during the game. The shootout began strong with both teams only missing one shot; that was, until Irvine’s goalkeeper Luke Pruter made a crucial save. When it mattered most, his save blocked an Aggie goal resulting in the 8-7 final pk score.

Camryn is our student athlete of the week for 11/28. Camryn just wrapped up her senior golf season as one of Dixon’s top golfers. This year she qualified for the section tournament as an individual. Camryn shot a personal best of 94 at the GEL tournament. Camryn is also a 4 year varsity softball player and holds a 4.25 gpa. She plans on attending a 4 year university in Southern California to study sports medicine.
