Dog dies, 2 cats missing after massive fire destroys house in Uxbridge, fire officials say

UXBRIDGE, Mass. — A dog has died and two cats are missing after a massive fire engulfed and destroyed a house in Uxbridge on Memorial Day, the fire chief said.

Two firefighters received medical attention after battling the fire.

No people were inside the Linwood Street house when the fire began on Monday afternoon, Uxbridge Fire Chief Thomas Dion told Boston 25.

When firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Dion said.

The fire in Uxbridge was one of several fires reported in the region on Memorial Day.

In Framingham, a house was destroyed and a cat went missing after a fire on Rhiner Street on Memorial Day, fire officials said.
