Virginia Tech women's golfer Becca DiNunzio carded a 6-under 210 to capture The Donna Andrews Invitational at Virginia's Boonsboro Country Club. It was a good tournament all around for The Hokies. In addition to DiNunzio's first-place performance, incoming first-year Emily Mathews took sixth at 1-under 215. Mathews, a native of Mebane, N.C., won low junior honors at The Donna. Rising sophomore Morgan Ketchum tied for 25th at 11-over 227 to round out the three players from Virginia Tech that finished in the top 25.

Ever since his first day teaching at Whitman in 1995, James Kuhn has devoted every second of his career to educating. Both in the classroom and on the field, his encouraging smile and positive attitude always leave a lasting impression on students and staff. Whether it be as a coach, department head or math teacher, Kuhn’s teaching has inspired many students to succeed inside and outside the classroom. After 28 years at Whitman, he will retire at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Sports mural honoring hundreds of sports figures celebrated at stadium
Plans for a 550-foot-long mural featuring 250 sports figures from Frederick County history were celebrated at a ceremony Thursday at Harry Grove Stadium. The mural, by local artist Yemi, will highlight major figures from 1895 to 2020. It will run alongside the outside of the stadium.

When Dan Wagner joined Tuscarora High in its opening year in 2003, he had the unique opportunity to build the school’s boys basketball program from the ground up. His seven years as a head coach with the Titans proved quite fruitful. Wagner turned them into a consistent winning force, and he was named the FNP’s coach of the year twice. But Wagner stepped down in 2010 to focus on raising his family, promising he’d be back one day.

Frederick's Atlantic League baseball team used a trio of four-run innings to blast past Staten Island Wednesday and snap its three-game skid with a 12-6 win. Kole Cottam opened Frederick's outburst with an RBI single in the second and helped cap it with a seventh-inning two-run homer.
