Tents cleared from Wilshire, housing found
The city of Los Angeles moved 27 people into housing on April 15 who were staying in tents along Wilshire Boulevard between Fairfax Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard. The joint operation was a partnership between the city, the Los Angeles Homelessness Services Authority and the office of Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, 5th District. Tents were cleared from the area after people staying there boarded a bus that took them to a temporary housing site in Inglewood. Although it was not an Inside Safe operation, it followed the same blueprint as Mayor Karen Bass’ signature program to address homelessness, ensuring people had a place to go where they will receive services, Yaroslavsky’s spokesman Leo Daube said.
