UNIONDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Nassau County man with a loaded gun was arrested Tuesday after attacking one officer and injuring another while resisting arrest, police said.

David Schenck, 30, walked "suspiciously" in a Uniondale parking lot behind Nassau Road, where numerous businesses were closed and vehicles were parked. Police said the area is "known for numerous burglary and vehicle thefts."

Police said Schenck bolted and pushed one officer to the ground as police attempted to question him, causing the officer to suffer numerous contusions and lacerations to his left shoulder and arm.

More cops arrived on the scene and attempted to arrest Schenck, but he was "violent and combative while resisting arrest," injuring another officer.

Police said a loaded 9-mm pistol was found on Schenck.

Schenck and the two injured officers were all brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.

He is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
