Washington Man Accused Of Burglarizing Business

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on March 20th, 2023, Franklin County deputies, with the assistance of Union Missouri Police Department officers, responded to a business at the intersection of Clearview Road and Hwy 47 for a report of a subject trying to force entry into the back door of the business.

The employee was present in the business and was watching the suspect via surveillance cameras. Before law enforcement's arrival, the suspect had left the area on foot. Deputies checking the area had located a large knife on the ground just outside the door of the business where the suspect had been standing. Upon searching the area, law enforcement located the suspect hiding in an unlocked car at an adjacent used car lot.

The suspect was identified as Jeremy Lovell, a 36-year-old male from the Washington area. He was found to have active warrants from the Union Police Department as well as being on probation for stalking. Lovell was ultimately arrested for the active warrants.

A search incident to the arrest revealed property that was believed to be stolen from another business within proximity of the scene of the arrest.

Deputies responded to the establishment and located evidence that a burglary was attempted.

Deputies made contact at the business, which was believed to have been burglarized. Upon speaking with the business owner and viewing surveillance footage, it was found the suspect had indeed forced entry into the building.

The suspect had taken numerous items from the business before exiting.

The items missing from the business were in backpacks, which were in the custody of Lovell at his time of arrest.

Franklin County deputies applied for and were granted in-custody warrants for Jeremy Lovell through the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for Burglary 2nd Degree and Stealing $750 or More with a bond of $25,000 cash only.
