TILIW – Walking in Femme Osage Valley – the business of a flaneur – Maynard and Ruth Heman – Cracker Barrel Country – Johann Duebbert – a peaceful place to compost – the wooden plank bridge
This is a TILIW from a few years back, Walking in Femme Osage Valley. This is the first written TILIW that was not an interview. Please enjoy!. You may have thought you’d heard the last of Tell It Like It Was, but we’ll be back when 19 subsides. Meanwhile, Dave Klaas and I are often walking in a neighorhood near you, far apart and masked. Often motorists stop to ask what we’re doing, and why?!! It’s hard to explain the business of a flaneur. (Look that up in your dictionary!)

The unheralded legacy of Dee Dann
“A great fire burns within me, but no one stops to warm themselves at it, and passers-by only see a wisp of smoke.”. History is rife with artists who died before they got the recognition they deserved. As Van Gogh lay bleeding to death in the company of his brother, he had sold but one painting. Edgar Allan Poe died screaming at phantoms without a penny in his pocket. Buddy Holly was just getting started when the plane he chartered fell out of the sky. It was only after their deaths that people realized their talent, and that it wasn’t coming back.
Folsom: YouTube series visits 'weird' nearby town
One of the YouTube channels my wife and I enjoy is “Travel With A Wiseguy.”. The videos feature a Wichita State University assistant track coach named John Wise, who travels around to small towns, and even ghost towns, in his spare time, showing what sets each community apart.
